Essay Excerpt… “ I want to contribute to the improvement of the Los Angeles
metropolitan area by creating affordable housing in local neighborhoods. My
career goal is to become a U.S. Senator and be a voice for the underrepresented
and create economic opportunities. As a U.S. Senator, I would focus on
community reinvestment, welfare, healthcare and law enforcement.”

Ethan Cortez 2021

Attends University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA)
Essay Excerpt… “ The thought of anyone not having secure housing is upsetting,
thus I have participated in community service projects such as a care bag drive for
the homeless population of San Bernardino and a shoe drive for children residing
in shelters. These activities allow me to directly contribute to solving issues facing
my community. I firmly believe that leaders hold the power to effect change. I am
a leader.”

Essay Excerpt… “I plan to major in mechanical engineering and specialize in
materials science to conduct research on possible elements in space that can be
used to improve life here on earth. After obtaining a Ph.D. in mechanical
engineering, I plan to work in the aerospace industry. I believe there is always
room for improvement and that the world and our current understanding of it can
continuously be better.”
