President

Dear Members and Friends of the Wilfandel Club,

It is my honor to begin a second term as President of the Wilfandel Club during this milestone year as we celebrate 80 years of service, stewardship, and legacy.

For generations, Wilfandel has championed the vision of its founders — preserving history, supporting young leaders through scholarships, and serving as a vital community resource. Today, our charge is clear: to safeguard this legacy while boldly shaping the future.

During my first term, Wilfandel was awarded a transformative Mellon Foundation Humanities in Place grant to plan for the future of our historic clubhouse. This support funds stewardship planning, architectural guidance, archive preservation and interpretive learning programs, while providing capacity-building resources to strengthen our operations and prepare for a capital campaign. Together, these investments lay the groundwork for Wilfandel’s sustainable future.

Equally vital is our programming, generously supported by the City of Los Angeles and other private foundations. We were recently honored to receive a Wilfandel Arts Development Grant, an initiative designed to showcase, support, and celebrate the artistic talents of youth and young adults in our community. Through free programs including our Easter Egg Hunt, Wednesdays at the Wilfandel Summer Educational Series, Life Skills Workshop for high school students, Women’s Wellness Retreat, Writers Workshop, Wilfandel serves students, families, emerging leaders, and adults seeking growth and connection.

None of this would be possible without our members. The women of Wilfandel give generously, — their time, their talents, and resources — to sustain this historic clubhouse and serve our community. Their tireless dedication ensures that the legacy entrusted to us is preserved and strengthened for future generations.

We also welcome you to celebrate your own milestones at the clubhouse. When you host your special occasions at Wilfandel, you help ensure this landmark continues to thrive as a living symbol of heritage, resilience, and community.

With gratitude and anticipation for what lies ahead, let us continue together to ensure that Wilfandel remains beautiful, vibrant, and steadfast in its mission.

Warmly,

Carrie Griffith Henley

President, 2023–2027
